A Break and Shopping

Friday was a great day to leave work early!  I had worked a 60-hr week followed by a week of the flu with substantial time at work despite the time off, another 60-hr week and I was getting pretty burned out. So I drew the line at 49 hours and left to spend the rest of the afternoon with Patrick :D
I got a few maternity clothes (it was hard to buy and be prepared since I'm hardly showing... all the shirts just felt empty) and we had some nice bonding time.  Definitely a much appreciated respite! <3

Eeek!!

Today started off much like that...I woke up, went into the bathroom for my shower before work and stumbled upon Mushki peering under the vanity.  She promptly ran away, so in my sleepy state, I thought nothing of it and continued about my business.  Until...a mouse scurried from under the edge of the vanity and ran back and forth in front of the door!!  I proceeded to scream bloody murder until Patrick opened the door and let the mouse out.  At which time I chased the mouse around the house naked and armed with a pint glass.  What a great start to the first day we heard your heartbeat!  Next Tuesday we get an ultrasound to assess the accuracy of the original due date and we were given, August 4.  It will be exciting to see you!

Bubble Burst

And now I know why I waited to tell my sister the big news...  She turned it around and made me feel guilty about being pregnant.  Wow.  Bubble sufficiently burst.  Hope she feels better because I certainly don't.  Obviously I was not considering her feelings when sharing my news.  If I cared at all, I would know that she's been trying to get pregnant for 8 whole months!  How inconsiderate of me to then get knocked up before her.  What was I thinking?  On a positive note, I'm extremely happy that I wasn't able to get a hold of her after I talked to Mom on Wednesday.  That allowed me to at least savor her excitement (and let mine grow) a bit before this drama.

Mid Week 9

Week 8 wasn't all that eventful, but I have been pretty tired in spite of all the rest. Today Mr.P and I went to our first appointment which was just the basics with a nurse practioner, Beverly. We see the doctor in ~2 weeks. During discussions of what may or may not run in our families, excema came up and I used that as my lead in when I called Mom later in the afternoon.
A: "Mom, have you officially been diagnosed with excema or do you just think that's it?"
M: "Why, do you have it now?"
A: "Well, no...but your first grandchild may be susceptible..."
M: "Are you pregnant!!"
She seemed genuinely excited to hear our news and I couldn't be happier about that! Oh, and the rasberry in my belly has graduated to an olive :-) Green and red for the holidays, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Week 7 Recap

Last week you were a tiny little blueberry in my belly.  Today we found out that you're about the size of a raspberry in Week 8.  I'm getting more forgetful every day I'm pregnant.  I broke my phone screen last Friday because it was laying in my lap instead of in my purse like normal when I got out of the car :-(  I just didn't remember to place it in the normal position in my purse!  Oh well.  I need to keep that radiation away from my belly right now anyway ;-)  Nothing else is really new.  I still haven't been sick.  I like you already for not causing me that pain!  I'm very excited to find out if you are a boy or a girl.  We have decided to let the doctor tell us when it is time so that you aren't ever androgenous to us with 2 names.  Over the last few days we have purchased a swing for you at $60 (retail around $180), a Baby Bjorn bouncer with a wood block attachment for $40 (retail $X) and a big stroller for $20 (retail $X).  The deals we are getting with this stuff are amazing.  Hopefully we can save enough money now for you to get a great education later!  We'll keep it up.  You don't need a brand new stroller anyway.

Week 6 Recap

Today is the beginning of week 7 and we are headed back to Rochester after attending my first NFL game (Buffalo Bills vs. St.Louis Rams).  I'm a little queasy, but I think it's car sickness more than anything.  Luckily, I haven't been hit with morning sickness yet.  My nipples are very sensitive and I've had cramping, bit that's it physically.  Smells have bothered me more than usual...I'm like a bloodhound now.  My only other news item of the week is not baby related.  At pool on Thursday, I made the 9 ball on the break 4 games in a row!  I also won the overall match and had zero scratches!  Pregnancy is working out for me so far  ;-)

Week 5 Recap

Today is the beginning of Week 6.  Week 5 was exciting!  We learned about being pregnant and all of a sudden, everything we do or think about revolves around this new bundle of joy!  So far, I haven't felt any of the typical nausea.  I do, however, feel like I'm already forgetting things though...  Right now, I'm just enjoying the ride  :-)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Since the wedding was a little over a month ago, neither Patrick nor I felt the need to plan anything other than a long weekend at home! We decided to try a few new dishes as our Thanksgiving meal. Of course, we searched Pinterest and came up with a nicely rounded feast. Here's what we decided on...

Main dish:  Braided Spaghetti Bread

Side dish:  Roasted Parmesan Creamed Onions

Side salad with Cheese Garlic Dressing

Dessert:  Lemon Zucchini Loaf with Lemon Glaze

(this was ok, but if you're craving something deliciously lemony, I'd recommend these lemon bars, double the recipe and put in a 9x13, yum!)

Happy Thanksgiving!

This lovely little fellow can't wait until the snow is gone so he can take his mushroom and goose outside.
